The Texas A&M University College of Nursing has expanded its pathway to family nurse practitioner certification to include an online post-graduate certificate.

The Post-Graduate Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner is designed for those holding a graduate degree in nursing who want to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Family Nurse Practitioner and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification exams to be licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). The College of Nursing also offers a Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner, which is available to bachelor’s-prepared nurses seeking the same certification and licensure. The college has a 100% pass rate for the national nurse practitioner exams.

Family nurse practitioners are primary care providers who focus on health promotion, risk reduction, disease prevention, illness management and more.

Coursework is delivered asynchronously online over five semesters. Clinical hours are completed in the students’ own communities with limited on-campus time in Bryan-College Station.

Students in the FNP certificate program who work in rural areas are eligible for the college’s Rural Engagement Scholarship, which provides $375,000 annually to nurses seeking advanced education.
