SRPH Dr. Gamm receives ACHE Regent
(COLLEGE STATION, TX) — Larry Gamm, Ph.D., head and professor of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health, received the Regent’s Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives at the Oct. 16 Texas Hospital Association Leadership Conference.
The award, one of the highest from the ACHE, recognizes “significant contributions toward the achievement of the goals of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the advancement of healthcare management excellence.” Robert Castagno, F.A.C.H.E., vice president at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System in Houston and ACHE regent for the Texas-Southeast Chapter, presented the award to Dr. Gamm.
“Dr. Gamm has shown tremendous leadership, and his students have responded,” Mr. Castagno said. “Together, they have implemented our chapter’s first local program council. This was ultimately evidenced by having Quint Studer lead the charge at our first LPC meetings.”
The award is traditionally given to a hospital administrator, making Dr. Gamm’s selection a distinct honor. He serves on the ACHE Texas-Southeast Chapter Board of Directors and is co-chair of the Bryan-College Station Regional Local Program Council.
The ACHE is the oldest professional organization in the country for hospital administrators and health care executives, now spanning executives and leaders worldwide. Its mission is “to advance our members and healthcare management excellence through high ethical standards, pertinent knowledge and a relevant credentialing program.”
