Timothy Erickson, PhD, assistant professor at the Texas A&M University School of Public Health, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in epidemiology and biostatistics for the 2025-2026 academic year. He will conduct research and teach in Malawi, located in Southeastern Africa, in partnership with the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

Fulbright U.S. Scholars are faculty, researchers, administrators and established professionals teaching or conducting research in affiliation with institutes abroad. The Fulbright Program operates in over 160 countries worldwide.

Erickson’s research will lay the groundwork for the potential deployment of an early prediction diagnostic system for two diseases prevalent in Malawi: maternal hemorrhage during pregnancy and acute febrile illness (AFI) in children. In addition to his research, he will teach biostatistics at the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

Erickson graduated with his doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Texas School of Public Health in 2019 and his master’s degree in epidemiology from the Texas A&M School of Public Health in 2015.
