A Gift that Keeps on Giving

In 2004, Parth Shah, M.D., was having difficulty paying his tuition at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Rural Public Health where he was pursuing a masters in public health degree. Regents Professor Marcia Ory, Ph.D., M.P.H., heard of her student’s difficulty and funded a scholarship to help him. Dr. Shah never forgot Dr. Ory’s generosity and as a result, recently decided to fund a similar scholarship for TAMHSC-School of Rural Public Health students.
“Creating a scholarship for me was such a kind gesture by Dr. Ory,” states Dr. Shah. “Over the years, I have been helped by ‘guarding angels’ and I wish to extend the same help to deserving students in need. I hope the chain reaction of giving will continue to grow bigger and better!”
“Dr. Shah’s desire to fund a scholarship similar to what I was able to do for him years ago motivated me to recently establish an endowed scholarship, which will benefit students for years to come,” states Dr. Ory. “A nice chain reaction-building public health professionals one link at a time.”
Dr. Shaw currently works at the Jennie Stuart Medical Hospital in Hopkinsville, Kentucky as a physician.
