A May graduate and a current student with the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Rural Public Health recently were awarded accreditation fellowships by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Daphne Quick and Anna Maria Pulido Saldivar will be assigned to work with local health departments in rural Texas and assist with documentation of performance and compliance with accreditation standards.

This fellowship program is part of the Local Health Department Accreditation project where recipients assist local health departments during the accreditation application process for the Public Health Accreditation Board. Awardees gain invaluable on-the-job experience by working with local health departments and other government agencies to assess the health needs of that community. They will be exposed to the strategies, procedures and functions of a local health department while providing them with needed personnel support.

Each fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend for the fellowship in addition to a $2,000 living and travel allowance.
