American Academy of Nursing selects Texas A&M professor as fellow

Robin Page, PhD, APRN, CNM, FACNM, a Texas A&M University School of Nursing associate professor, has been selected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

Page and the group of 2023 inductees were selected for their significant contributions to the nursing profession and expertise in policy, research, administration, practice and academia.

The latest class of 253 nurses—which brings AAN’s membership to more than 3,000—represents 40 states, the District of Columbia and 13 countries. The organization’s Fellow Selection Committee reviewed nearly 400 applications for 2023.

Page, a tenured faculty member at Texas A&M, is a maternal health expert who has been with the School of Nursing since 2014. Her research on women’s health, pregnancy, health disparities and more has been widely published, and Page has secured or helped secure millions in grant funding to study and provide outreach services to underserved and vulnerable populations. A practicing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse-Certified Nurse Midwife, she provides her services free of charge to several community clinics in the Brazos Valley.

Page is the founder and director of the school’s Program of Excellence for Mothers, Children and Families (POEMCF), which was created in 2022 to develop and manage projects that improve the health and well-being of families and communities across Texas. The POEMCF includes the Nurse-Family Partnership®, a nurse home visitor program for first-time mothers, and HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters), a program to empower parents and families for success.

Also a Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Page received her PhD in nursing from The University of Texas, master’s in nurse midwifery from the University of Colorado and bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Kentucky. She also completed a research fellowship in genetics at the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Nursing Research.

Page will be inducted during a special ceremony at the AAN’s annual Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 7. She joins five other Texas A&M faculty members who are Fellows of the AAN:
