Brandi Hamilton, 2013-2014 American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) national president from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, visited the Texas A&M Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy as part of the APhA-ASP National Student Outreach Program. She spent the day meeting with the student executive committee and chapter advisers to answer questions and offer advice. In addition, she reached out to members during the general meeting and discussed student involvement with Indra K. Reddy, Ph.D., professor and founding dean, Steven Peterson, Ph.D., professor and associate dean for academic affairs, and Gregory Sawyer, Ph.D., associate professor and assistant dean for student affairs.

“Brandi did a wonderful job explaining why joining student organizations like APhA-ASP play an instrumental roll in being a well-rounded health care professional,” said Katie Taylor, third-year professional student pharmacist and current chapter president. “Benefits of being active in a student organization include, advocating for the pharmacy profession, networking with other student pharmacists across the nation, building leadership skills, providing patient care and education to surrounding communities and building a positive relationship with the patients we serve.”
