Appiah to present on infectious disease panel at the 2014 Houston Global Health Collaborative’s Connect Conference

Bernard Appiah, Dr.P.H., research associate at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health, will present at the Houston Global Health Collaborative Connect 2014 Conference in Houston, Texas on March 22. The conference is a joint effort by individuals throughout the Texas Medical Center and the greater Houston area to solidify Houston as a leader in global health and community health development. Appiah will serve on the Infectious Diseases panel and will present a case study discussing the role of communication in addressing global health concerns. The presentation entitled, “Engaging health and media professionals to address global health problems: A case study of Ghana,” will emphasize the importance of communication and the role media and health professionals play in influencing the public’s behavior regarding their healthcare.

Appiah is a graduate of the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health and is the Director of the Centre for Science and Health Communication, a non-profit organization based in Ghana. In addition, he is an associate fellow of the Communication Research Institute based in Australia
