August 2012 Institutional Advancement: Create a lasting legacy
By Russ Gibbs, D.Min., CFRE, Vice President for Institutional Advancement
“Planned giving” sounds like a scary term. Part of the reason is that there are many options for implementing a planned giving strategy.
The good news is, with the many options available, planned giving can be one of the simplest ways to achieve a lasting legacy and provide an important investment in the future of our institution. That investment means helping secure the advancement of health care for the benefit of future generations.
Gifts from estate plans make a profound impact on future generations. These gifts are extremely important in ensuring the growth and achievement of the institutions who are the beneficiaries of such plans. Planned giving strategies can be as simple as including the Texas A&M Health Science Center or one of the TAMHSC colleges in a will as a simple bequest, or by working with us and your financial advisor to create a flexible trust agreement.
So whether your goal is to secure a fixed income during your retirement, reduce estate taxes for your children or reduce long-term capital gains, many options are available. These options can help you achieve your goals while ensuring the future of the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at (979) 436-9120 for more information or to visit with a development officer concerning your options.
