College of Nursing announces innovative, accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) College of Nursing has announced a new program that will allow nursing students to obtain nursing degrees more quickly, and with more advanced education and clinical training.

The Select Track Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) will allow bachelor’s students to participate as a “fast track” program to complete both a B.S.N. and a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N) within a three year academic trajectory. 

This unique degree program will be opened to undergraduate students with two years of prerequisite course work or second degree students who already possess a bachelor’s degree. Because of the rigorous nature of the Select Track program it will only be offered in full-time course loads.

Applications to the Select Track began February 15 and will close May 15. The inaugural class will begin in the fall 2014 semester at the Bryan/College Station campus.

“This is such an exciting program and allows us to continue to answer the workforce demand for more nurses, and specifically more highly educated nurses,” said Texas A&M College of Nursing Dean Sharon A. Wilkerson, Ph.D., RN, CNE. “The Select Track B.S.N. will showcase the best and brightest students in our program and allow them to reach their full potential in less time.”

Select Track students will be able to enter the Master of Science program (pending program approval) immediately upon completion of their baccalaureate coursework.
