Dr. Danko Appointed New Director of Curriculum Development & Global Initiatives

Rick Danko, Dr.P.H., has joined the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health as director of curriculum development and global initiatives.

Previously, Dr. Danko was director of the Office of Academic Linkages and director of the Centers for Program Coordination, Policy and Innovation, among other positions at the Texas Department of State Health Services where he has worked since 1994. He has led program activities, policy analysis and planning for public health throughout the state of Texas, including programs for health work force development and community and clinical prevention of chronic disease.

Before serving in state government, Dr. Danko held a faculty appointment at The University of Texas Medical Branch in the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for International Health. His dedication to public health and community development began earlier in his career during two years of field experience in the U.S. Peace Corps serving in Kenya.

Dr. Danko completed a Dr.P.H. and M.P.H. at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health.
