Integrative Biosciences professor chosen as Faculty Fellow for Health-NIH Focus in Division of Research
The one-year appointment will help establish Texas A&M as a national leader in NIH-funded research
Joe Arosh, PhD, professor in the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has been appointed a Faculty Fellow for Health-NIH Focus in the Division of Research. This one-year appointment will support the advancement of health-related research at the university.
In this new administrative role, Arosh will spearhead the development of transdisciplinary programs in biomedical, health and life sciences, aiming to establish Texas A&M as a national leader in research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His primary goals include engaging with stakeholders to build a robust research network and foster collaboration between the Division of Research and Texas A&M Health.
With more than $25 million in research grants from agencies such as the NIH, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Arosh has advanced groundbreaking research in reproductive physiology and pathology in humans and animals. His efforts have focused on improving women’s reproductive health and fertility outcomes through strong multi-institutional and international collaborations with hospitals and research institutes.
In addition to his research achievements, Arosh has contributed significantly to the scientific community by serving on numerous grant panels and NIH study sections, further demonstrating his expertise and leadership in biomedical research.
After graduating from Laval University in Canada with a PhD in biomedical physiology-endocrinology in 2003, Arosh joined Texas A&M in 2004 and has built a rich expertise in his field, gaining national and international attention for his work.
This appointment is part of a collaborative initiative between the Division of Research and Texas A&M Health, with the selection process jointly facilitated by their leadership teams.
Arosh’s appointment reflects the university’s dedication to driving innovation in biomedical and health sciences research, said Indra K. Reddy, PhD, interim chief operating officer and senior vice president of Texas A&M Health.
“With his extensive background and knowledge, he is set to play a key role in building collaborations and advancing impactful projects that tackle critical health challenges and uphold the university’s key interests,” Reddy said. “This effort strengthens the university’s position as a leader in NIH-funded research while working toward meaningful improvements in health and well-being on a larger scale.”
