School of Nursing selects Aggie to lead Round Rock site
Dr. Matt Hoffman assumes appointment Aug. 16
The Texas A&M University School of Nursing has selected faculty member Matt F. Hoffman, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, to lead its Round Rock campus. His appointment as assistant dean for distant site-Round Rock and clinical associate professor is effective Aug. 16.
Hoffman replaces Star Mitchell, PhD, RN, CCRN-K, who departed in June to accept a role as associate dean for academic affairs at the Augusta University College of Nursing. Carmen Vela, DNP, RN, CNE, has served as interim assistant dean since then.
A graduate of Texas A&M who has been with the school since 2012, Hoffman currently serves as a clinical assistant professor, program coordinator of the Master of Science in Nursing – Nursing Education program and faculty chair. He is also a university faculty senator and advanced practice provider for University Health Services at Texas A&M.
Hoffman received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M in 2010 via its second-degree BSN program, which is delivered at the Round Rock site he will oversee. He also holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Iowa and bachelor’s in communication from Stephen F. Austin State University.
