MHA Graduate Student receives National Scholarship
Lindsay Shaw of the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health is one of eight graduate students selected nationally to receive the Foster G. McGaw scholarship from the American College of Healthcare Executives. A second-year master of health administration student, Lindsay will graduate in 2014.
She currently works as an electronic medical records project manager at the Central Texas Heart Center in Bryan, Texas, a position that has provided her with the opportunity to apply the curriculum taught in the classroom to the routine operations of a cardiologist practice.
Following graduation, Ms. Shaw hopes to obtain a fellowship at an academic medical center. Her interests include strategic development, process improvement, accreditation and compliance. Ms. Shaw eventually plans to pursue a doctoral degree in health policy and management as this will not only further solidify her understanding of the healthcare industry, but will also allow her to teach as a second career.
