Student Awarded Governmental Public Health Practice Award

Gaurav Poudyal, a graduate student in biostatistics at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Public Health, has received the Governmental Public Health Practice Award from the Texas Public Health Training Center (TPHTC).

“You represent the best from among all those who applied for a limited number of positions available,” stated Linda Lloyd, Ph.D., Director of the TPHTC.

The TPHTC is one of 33 Public Health Training Centers across the nation established as a collaboration between accredited schools of public health, governmental and public health agencies, and related organizations.  TPHTC member schools are the TAMHSC-School of Rural Public Health, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, and the University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health.

The Governmental Public Health Practice Award gives students the opportunity to have applied experience in the public health system. As part of the award, Mr. Poudyal received a paid internship, which he will complete this summer at the Tarrant County Public Health Department in Ft. Worth, Texas.
